We're fine. We really are. I'm sorry we had to go like we did, with no word, and not telling anyone anything. We've been told to keep things as quiet as possible but I hope no one thought it wasn't because we don't trust you or something ridiculous like that.
We're safe, but since I'm not sure how traceable these things could be, I'm not risking telling people where.
Be careful, helping us is evidently a crime now, and we're trying to avoid more people getting hurt, not causing it.
I'll try to write when I can again.

Privacy hexes are wonderful things. That said, personal choices are, I think, still personal. I would like it if we could stop worrying about what everyone else is doing (or not doing) and worry more about what is going on out in the real world.
If wishes were fishes though, I'd have a full aquarium. |

Remember when the Ministry-controlled Prophet said Harry was crazy? They said Dumbledore was a liar? They sent Umbridge here to try and terrorize us all into following their line, and quoting what they wanted people to hear? Now they want us to believe this sudden, extraordinary change of leadership is perfectly normal and not at all exceptional. That it wasn't a complete bloodbath. Now they're trying to treat us like idiots again.
People were killed. They were hurt, and they were killed, and anyone, anyone who tries to tell you otherwise is lying for You-Know-Who. Check their arms before you believe their lies. You have your own minds. Your own hearts. Listen to what the Headmaster told you, to the reports we're getting in. You know the truth, even if you're too afraid to acknowledge it.
Just remember, whatever house you are in, whoever your parents are, you aren't alone. There are people here who will help you, who won't try to silence your voice, who will listen and try to keep you safe. No matter what house you are in. Every single one of you deserves the truth, deserves to be able to make your own, informed decision about this war, and I for one, won't let house prejudices over a Quidditch match or a House Cup keep other students from feeling safe.

Welcome back all! I'm sure Monday will be a busy day for everyone, there seems to be a lot of last minute reading going on in the Gryffindor common room what did you all DO all summer so I'll make this short. Since hopefully that reading involves studying. Rather then these things. Huge distraction. Huge!
While supporting Hogwarts alumni is a great show of loyalty and camaraderie, I'd like to remind everyone that pretty much everything Fred and George Weasley sell in their shop is against the rules, and if I find older students who should KNOW BETTER testing them out on firsties and such for a laugh, I will take house points, and recommend detentions. I hope my fellow prefects will help and do the same. Merlin knows those two did enough testing on their own, the products don't need more testing.
I imagine the teachers and such will have their own warnings, but I'll remind everyone again, just in case- Lots of people, people you don't know, and people who may or may not be closely associated with You Know Who read and write in these journals. Be careful what you say, practice your privacy charms carefully, and report anything suspicious to a prefect or a professor. It's not just you that they may go after if you provoke them- it'll be your friends and family too. Just be smart about things.

Well, these seem to be all the rage nowadays, don't they? I have to admit I nearly took it apart checking for some sort of trick or catch and I'm not entirely sure they're totally trustworthy. Seems all too easy for the wrong sort to know what you're up to if you're not careful. Especially nowadays. Still, they'll probably be useful for keeping track of my homework assignments, if nothing else. Ohh, and my study plan. Alright, so they're not totally useless.
Really overwhelmed about being made Head Girl, I hope I do well and make you all proud. How I'm going to manage with everything else... I'll do my best, anyways.
That attack on the Ministry was, well, frightening, I guess, but it seems they'd have better security on their incoming correspondence. A few simple screening charms on incoming owls could have saved everyone some headaches, I would hope.
